Ohio Archery Season is open from Sep 26, 2026, to Feb 7, 2027. The City of Wellston allows archery deer hunting on pre-approved City lands as a means of population control. Thinning the herd may minimize the potential for property damage associated with car/deer collisions and the animals feeding on your shrubs and trees. Hunters may apply for a deer hunting permit by entering the lottery and then submitting a hunting application.
Applications and related information can be found by visiting the following links, or you can visit the mayor’s office to pick up a packet.
Deer Hunt Hold Harmless Agreement
The Deer Hunt Application and Deer Hunt Hold Harmless Agreement must be turned in to qualify. Incomplete forms will be disqualified. Applications received before August 1, 2026, or after August 31, 2026, will not be considered. Spots are non-transferable. Lottery winners MUST send a copy of their hunting license by September 13th or be disqualified.
Forms can be emailed to meisnaugle@cityofwellston.org.
Ohio Pest Control, Inc., in conjunction with the City of Wellston, will conduct scheduled mosquito spraying between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5th; the inclement weather makeup date is August 12th.
Health Precautions
Residents with respiratory conditions or sensitivities should consider:
Closing windows during spraying
Turning off window-unit air conditioners
These measures should remain in place until the fog has fully dissipated.
