Service Director Anthony Brenner has decided that the new flag poles at the City Building will be dedicated to a man who was an honored veteran, hard worker, loving family man, and a great friend to many. Chris Barber was a proud veteran of the United States Army and drafted in 1969 during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1971.
A former Service Director for the city of Wellston and 4th Ward City Councilman, Chris’ commitment to the community knew no bounds. He was very active and involved in several organizations including: Past Commander and Officer of American Legion Post 371; D.A.V.; Honor Guard; Sons of the American Legion; 40 & 8; V.F.W. Post 9092; AmVets; Black Diamond Lodge #538 F&AM; Shiloh Shrine Club; Buckeye Boys State; Good Guys Car Club; Buckeye Hero Hunt; Elks Lodge; and numerous other activities in which he received several accolades, including “President of the Neighborhood Watch.”
For these reasons, the City of Wellston will be hosting a dedication ceremony tomorrow morning, Saturday, July 3 at 8 a.m. to raise the flags and dedicate the new poles in honor of Chris Barber.
